Very few window cleaners are in fact Glass Smart. They might be "professionals", and have really nice looking trucks, websites, business cards, and a very well established clientele which they developed over many years. But they are NOT Glass Smart.
It is an unfortunate situation that most window cleaning companies have done damage to windows that cannot be repaired. They have etched glass with so called professional products, scratched glass with tools that never should have been used on the windows they were working on, and even created severe stains by using the wrong chemicals. The description of this type of surface damage goes on. It is in fact repeated all around the world.
The greatest reason why these things are happening is that the kind of knowledge that can stay this from happening is scarce. Few are learning it. And many more just do not want to implement it, even if they are aware. The reason being to implement it usually requires much more time in special situations. Special is what is known as non-routine window cleaning. When it isn't possible to clear a window with a wetting wand and a squeegee special chemical/abrasive products must be brought in. Which demand a higher quote. That is something the building owner or general contractor also does not want. So the risk is taken, the quick solution is used, and the windows are often destroyed.
The Smart window cleaner will always take an alternative approach. Being that if it is not possible to clear the window with tools and products safely and at a price that is both profitable and acceptable;...then they must walk away. Which is unfortunate but necessary.
In my consulting work I am looking for Professional window cleaners who also want to be Glass Smart. I am interested in locating companies like this who are here in New England. Companies that I can consult with on specific jobs. I have located and developed an assortment of products, tools, and techniques to help on non-routine window cleaning jobs.
