Hiring a Glass Smart Window Cleaner

There are many window cleaning companies world wide that are simply put NOT glass smart.  They are very good at routine window cleaning.  But when it comes to paint, silicone caulk, concrete sealant run off, hard water stains, or many other problems such as this they do not know how to deal with it.  As a direct consequence they end up creating scratches, etching, or even staining glass.

One of the biggest problems these days has to do with the use of metal razor blades on windows that have defective surfaces.  Or as I prefer to call this type of window "scratch sensitive".  Razor blades are an important tool of the professional window cleaner.  But there are many windows out there that absolutely cannot be scraped with a metal blade.  Sometimes even pastic blades cannot be used.  Scratches can be very deep and easy to see.  They can also be very fine and impossible to see on an overcast day.  But a professional window cleaner who is glass smart will know when a window can be safely scraped and when it cannot.  Check out this video below and listen for yourself to what I am talked about.

When any window cleaner hears this sound they should back off!
Then they should try out a safe method to remove whatever it is they need to remove.  If this cannot be found then they should let the homeowner know.  Because according to the GANA Bulletin the window has been destroyed at this point.  The warranty has been voided.  And short of finding a safe method for removing the debris such as and even paint specs;...the window much be replaced.

There are many different chemical based products that window cleaners will used to remove hard water spots.  Many of these are supposedly "professional glass restoration products".  But they are anything but professional.  The glass smart window cleaner will know what they are and how to remove stains without such products.

I have been consulting within the window cleaning industry for many years.  Along the way I have met up with many window cleaners who are indeed glass smart.  One of my goals in developing the website Glass Smart Consulting is to make these people and companies openly known to the world.  And so have decided to begin featuring them in the left hand column of this blog.  The pictures and names you see there will be hyperlinked directly to their websites.
